Located in Borken lies the home stable of Marcus Ehning – one of the world’s most successful show jumping riders. This is where Olympic gold medals, World Cup victories, and championship titles have their roots. Today, the facility continues to shape elite sport horses: peacefully located, highly functional, and defined by precision and horsemanship.

The training grounds feature a bright indoor arena, a spacious outdoor jumping arena, and a surrounding gallop track – offering ideal conditions for versatile, horse-friendly, and professional equestrian training in Germany.

Riding surfaces

At the Sport Horses Ehning, the indoor arena, outdoor jumping arena, and surrounding gallop track provide ideal conditions for top-level show jumping training. All surfaces are equipped with stresan® footing, specifically selected to meet the daily demands and high standards of competitive show jumping. This ensures consistently stable ground conditions throughout the year.

A unique feature of the facility is the gallop track surrounding the jumping arena. This allows for optimal combination of endurance training and jumping exercises, while also serving perfectly as a warm-up area before training sessions. The layout supports versatile, horse-friendly training for elite sport horses.

stresan® A - with Surface Drainage

Even on a gallop track, high shear strength and traction of the footing are crucial – especially at high speeds. Excellent hoof grip and optimal shear stability provide horses with secure footing. A slight 1–2% outward slope ensures efficient drainage of excess water, maintaining consistent ground conditions year-round.

This design creates ideal training conditions for elite sport horses, supporting both safety and performance during high-intensity gallop and jumping sessions.

stresan® A – with Surface Drainage

A pure natural product with rounded quartz grains, resulting in less hoof wear. Its fine sieve line reliably retains water, ensuring high firmness and excellent shear strength. With a slight slope of 1–2%, excess water is optimally drained. Dust-free, robust, and stable—perfect for outdoor jumping or dressage arenas.

stresan® V SH – sand-fleece mixture

A sand-fleece mixture that enhances the surface’s elasticity, durability, and resilience. The riding surface retains moisture better, remains dust-free, and protects joints through increased rebound. Tailored for show jumping, but also excellent for daily dressage work.
